what we hold ourselves to

We aim for WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard that applies as the baseline in the Netherlands and Europe and that is carried over into EN 301 549. For our customers this is not optional: Dutch municipalities and housing associations are bound by it themselves. A supplier whose own site is not in order is a risk to them.

This statement covers www.unexus.nl. The Unexus Connect platform has its own track; its accessibility is on the roadmap and is on the agenda for the User Day. Questions about the accessibility of the platform in your own set-up can be asked through contact.

what was built in

• Every page starts with a link skip to content, so that with a keyboard you can skip past the navigation.
• The content sits in a main element, with heading levels that follow each other without skipping.
• All text is text in the page, including what sits behind an expandable element. There is no text inside images.
• Every form field has a label that belongs to it, and required fields are marked as such.
• Every image has alt text, and purely decorative images have an empty alt so a screen reader skips them.
• Anyone tabbing through the page can see where they are: a clear two-pixel focus ring.
• Movement on the page stops if you have told your system you prefer reduced motion.
• The site works without a mouse and without JavaScript for the content. Only the search on the integrations page and the map on the partners page need JavaScript, and both have the content alongside as text as well.

what was measured, and what came out

On 25 August 2026 the whole site was checked automatically: all 46 pages, for contrast, labels, alt text, heading structure, language, landmarks and the size of click targets. What came out was repaired the same day:

• Two greys used as text colours came in at 2.6 and 2.1 against a requirement of 4.5. Replaced with a shade that reaches 5.2.
• White text on a magenta panel came in at 3.8. The panel was darkened and now reaches 5.1.
• Three places with semi-transparent white text on dark blue sat just under the requirement. Adjusted.
• There was no skip link and no main. Both are now on every page.
• A number of standalone links were smaller than 24 by 24 pixels. Enlarged, with the exception of links that sit inside a sentence; that exception is in the standard itself.

After that round the check reports zero findings on these points. That was verified by measurement, not assumed.

what we do not yet know

An automated check finds roughly half of what WCAG asks for. The other half needs a person. So these points are still open:

• Er is no independent accessibility audit has been carried out. So there is no audit report to ask for either.
• The site has not been tested with real users who use a screen reader, voice control or switch access.
• Two components are more complicated than the rest and deserve that human check first: the slider on the homepage and the map of international partners.
• The PDF documents we link to, such as the ISO certificate, have not been checked for accessibility.

We would rather say this here than have you find out for yourself. A statement that promises more than has been tested is not a statement.

no official status, and why not

The Dutch decree on digital accessibility for government applies to public bodies. We are a supplier and do not fall under it, so we are not in the register at accessibility statement.nl and we do not have an A, B, C or D status. This page is our own statement and does not use that template, because then it would look more official than it is.
